Role at Cornerstone
As the Worship Minister, I am responsible for the oversight and development of the Worship Band, Vocal Team, and Audio Elements.
Educational & Ministry Background
I have been playing music for almost 20 years. For 10 of those years, I have been actively playing in bands ranging from bluegrass to metal. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Audio Production from SIU Carbondale with a Minor in Music.
I began volunteering as a drummer for a Youth Band at the age of 15. Because of the Worship Team's need for a guitar player, I decided to learn to play. I had no desire to do Music Ministry until I was asked to do a Summer Internership at Cornerstone my junior year of college. After completing my internship, I began to realize that I heard music differently than most people and this could be useful for the church. I began volunteering regularly with the Worship Team in 2010, was hired part-time as the Music Director in 2013, and in July 2014 became Cornerstone's Worship Minister.
Hobbies, Pasttimes, Interests
Other than music, I have been a veracious reader since the age of 8 and still enjoy reading a good book from any genre. I am not really a sports fan, but because of Vin Scully and good friends teaching me the inner strategies of the game, I have become an avid Los Angeles Dodgers fan. In 2013, I visited Costa Rica with a mission team and discovered I have an interest in the Latino Culture. I am currently studying Spanish and am looking forward to returning to Costa Rica.
